Wanderlust Waypoints: at Yonder Here Farm is located on the western side of TN.
To provide a safe place and a secure environment for all our guests and families, we require some paperwork and we run a background check on anyone staying on-site overnight.
The barn is outfitted with a wide variety of tools. If you need something from the shop, just ask your host and he’ll see if it’s available for you to borrow (please note that some of the tools here may require a deposit due to their value)
Also, the host at Yonder Here is a certified electrician and can help you troubleshoot electrical issues or with the electrical install portion of your build.
Lowes is fifteen minutes away in Milan and Home Depot is 30 minutes away in Jackson. That means that no matter what you need for your build it’s just a short drive away.
The City of Perry has established a walking tour of the City’s historic downtown and in cooperation with the Taylor County Health Department has placed directional signs throughout the downtown to help guide you to points of interest.
The importance of forestry in Florida is showcased at the Forest Capital Museum. The longleaf pines growing on the grounds create an enjoyable walking trail for visitors. Adjacent to the museum is an authentic 19th century Cracker homestead. Rangers lead interpretive tours during special events and upon request.
The surrounding area also provides a wealth of natural beauty. Econfina River State Park is 30 min away and nestled along the northern Gulf Coast, and it’s a place that protects the myriad of diverse landscapes that YOU can explore! The Econfina River itself meanders through the oak and pine forests right through to salt marshes. Explore it by foot, bike, or even horseback.
Our hosts in Perry are awesome and one of the best things about the site. Jenny will make you feel like you’re home and Mike will be glad to give you advice and maybe a helping hand with your project (he’s a former mechanic). They do fun events like movie nights and chili cook offs all the time so you never know what’s going to be going on when you visit.
Since it’s sitting a mile from the Gulf of Mexico, the beach is minutes away and the Keaton Beach area is known for its fishing and scalloping so fresh seafood over the fire is a regular thing. Mike is also available for fishing charters if you’d like to go catch some big game fish.
The city of Perry has a variety of festivals throughout the year highlighted by the Florida Forest Festival which includes arts and crafts fair, carnival, car show, lumbering competitions, and the “World’s Largest Free Fish Fry.”
